Chapter Meeting Info

     The North Western Illinois Chapter holds a meeting on the fourth Saturday of each month, except June and Decemeber. We meet at St. Marks Lutheran Church at 675 North Mulford Road in Rockford, IL. Regular meetings begin with the doors open by 7 PM, a short business meeting starting at 7:30 and the main program to follow. There will usually be time for members in attendence to share any railroad news, news slides, or or participate in a mini-feature. Details on those events will be provided.   • January 26
         Our program for this Saturday night is the annual John Dziobko program with his vintage Kodachrome slides.

  • February 23
         PowerPoint slideshow presentation by Joe Schwieterman featuring before and after views from the Rockford area and southern Wisconsin.

  • March 22
         Slideshow presentation by Randy Olson featuring Rio Grande narrow gauge steam on the Cumbres & Toltec and Durango & Silverton. There will also be a short segment on Randy's adventures chasing Union Pacific's Heritage and Specially Painted locomotives.

         The Dana Dawes Photographer of the Year contest. Click here for details.

  • May 24
         Slideshow presentation by Ed Moran featuring different trips throughout 1999.

  • June
         Meeting annulled. Enjoy your summer vacation!

  • July 26
         The annual NWI Chapter picnic will once again be held at Mike Schafer's home in Lee, IL along the BNSF C&I line on Saturday, July 23. Feel free to drop by Mike's anytime afternoon and drop off your stuff and spend some time railfanning the line -- the C&I is busy during the afternoon. We will fire up the grills around 5PM and eat about 6. Bring your own drink, meat and dish to pass. After supper there will be a bring-your-own slide show -- please limit your selections to no more than 40 slides (and having them in a Kodak-compatible carousel tray would be nice too). The picnic is always a fun time. Bring along your family for a day down at "Zephyr Acres." We you to see you there!
